IPE' DECKING COMBINES
BEAUTY, STRENGTH, AND DURABILITY
Ipe', native to Central and South America, is an extremely dense wood that
has earned high marks as a decking product. Several upscale commercial
ventures, including the Atlantic City Boardwalk and the Nauticus National
Maritime Center in Norfolk, have installed Ipe' decking.
|
The wood has a very high resistance to all insect and fungal
attacks without the necessity of harmful chemical treatments. Extremely
tight grained and essentially knot free, it resists shrinking and cupping,
is able to withstand heavy traffic, and is naturally fire resistant.
Ipe' can be coated to retain its rich brown color, or left natural to turn
a soft silver. A unique hidden deck fastening system, which eliminates
exposed screws, is available for a safer, more attractive installation.
